Life and Matter: Which One Am I?

There is a school of thought in science and philosophy that the only reality is matter. If, therefore, a person is his physical body, then why is no value attached to the body once it has died?

Watch this intriguing lecture as Jagad Guru Siddhaswarupananda explains that the value is not in the body. The value is in the user of the body. When the user of the body is gone, the value is gone.

A Journey of Self Discovery

Is Your Body You? - Part 1
Am I More than Just Chemical?

The physical body is constantly changing. Every molecule that made up our body 10 years ago has been replaced.

Jagad Guru Siddhaswarupananda explains how the fact that we remember events and people from the past, even though our body has completely changed, underscores the reality that the living entity or “self” is constant and unchanging.

Is Your Body You? - Part 2
Evidence of the Unchanging Self

Many scientists believe that we are just a collection of different types of molecules, just a chemical machine. Is this true? “Who are you? What is your essence? What constitutes a person? Are you material in essence—just chemicals—or are you something else?”

Those and other fundamental questions about the essence of the living entity are the subject of this insightful lecture by Jagad Guru Siddhaswarupananda.

Full But Still Empty - Part 1

The confusion, depression, anxiety, and hopelessness that is so widespread in modern society are all rooted in a lack of understanding of the true nature of the self and the deeper purpose of our existence. Unfortunately, the true wisdom of yoga is exceedingly rare in today’s world.

Full But Still Empty - Part 2

The body craves material satisfaction. More, more, more, and more. We’re never satisfied. We never have enough. We always want more. We are trying to satisfy an inner emptiness, an inner craving. We’re trying to satisfy it with endless material consumption.

But this is not the answer—this is to accept that we are the body, but it does not lead to happiness.” This simple but sublime truth was put forward by Jagad Guru Siddhaswarupananda, a world-renowned yoga spiritual master, during a lecture on happiness.

What am I Worth?

What am I Worth? More than Chemicals?

If a person is nothing more than his material body—a collection of molecules—then why is there such a sudden and dramatic change in the body at the time of death even those all the same material elements are still present? That’s the thought-provoking question raised in this talk by Jagad Guru Siddhaswarupananda.

A Lifeless Body is Worthless

There is a school of thought in science and philosophy that the only reality is matter. If, therefore, a person is his physical body, then why is no value attached to the body once it has died?

Watch this intriguing lecture as Jagad Guru Siddhaswarupananda explains that the value is not in the body. The value is in the user of the body. When the user of the body is gone, the value is gone.

Yoga Spirituality Enlightenment & God

Science of Identity Foundation Presents
Understanding Yoga presented by International Yoga Meditation teacher Acharya Das

In the first part of the series, Acharya Das will discuss the topic of yoga. He will clear up common misconceptions of what yoga is, describe the ultimate goal of yoga, and explain the process by which the goal of yoga can be achieved.

Acharya Das will also share that the real message of yoga is a message of hope, self-discovery, and boundless joy. He will explain the yoga system of learning from a qualified teacher and reveal why it’s extremely beneficial for a sincere seeker of truth to seek out an authentic spiritual master to guide to them on the gradual and progressive journey towards transcendence.

Part 2 - Understanding Spirituality

Spirituality is the topic of the second part of the series. Spirituality is broadly defined as including a sense of connection to something bigger than ourselves—typically involving a search for the meaning in life. Acharya das will explain the differences between the material and spiritual energies and also contrast the materialistic and spiritual world-views.

Part 3 - Understanding Enlightenment

During the third part, Acharya Das will discuss the topic of enlightenment. He will explain that the foundation of enlightenment and self-realization is to understand that a person is not their material body or mind—that they are a spiritual being.

This understanding, that a person is not matter, but is the spiritual occupant of the body, can be life changing in how a person determines their purpose in life, in what ways they pursue happiness, and how they see others and the world around them. To discover the answer to the question, “Who Am I?” Acharya Das examines three key aspects of the living being, their essence, position, and function.

Part 4 - The Question of God

In the fourth and final part of this series, Acharya das delves into the topic of God. In particular, he addresses the question, “Is there a God or Absolute Truth?” From the yoga perspective, he explains the three levels of God realization, namely Brahman, Paramatma, and Bhagavan, and describes the experience and consciousness that result from these different levels of realization.

Understanding Karma Yoga of Bhagavad Gita

Science of Identity Foundation Presents
Karma Yoga Series presented by International Yoga Meditation teacher Acharya Das

Part 1: Understanding Karma

Most of us have heard of the law of karma, which is described by familiar sayings like, “what goes around comes around,” and “as you sow, so shall you reap.” We engage in certain activities and we get certain results. But karma yoga is different. It is not a practice where one seeks the fruits of their labor, rather by using one's activities in the service of the Supreme Lord, and all of His children, a person can pave the way for true peace and harmony in their life.

Part 2: Is Karma Avoidable

The great warrior Arjuna found himself in an impossible dilemma on the Battlefield of Kurukshetra. Not knowing what to do, he turned to Lord Krishna for guidance. Arjuna was then instructed that inaction wasn’t a solution, nor was false renunciation.

In our lives, action is unavoidable, so we must choose to either act in a way that binds us to this material world, or liberates us from it. By acting in the service of the Supreme Lord without attachment to the results or fruits of one’s work, in other words to follow the path of karma yoga, one becomes free from karmic reaction.

Part 3: Path to Happiness

Our actions can either bind us to the wheel of birth and death or liberate us from it. By working in the spirit of service and devotion (i.e. karma yoga), we become free from karmic reaction and begin to awaken our inherent wisdom and spiritual love.

Part 4: Q&A

Following a very insightful series of lectures on the subject of karma yoga, international yoga meditation teacher Acharya das responded to several questions that arose during the live-streaming of the series.
